Meet The Trustees

Marcus Wichmann

Chair of Trustees

Marcus brings a wealth of experience in community development, having led multiple projects—many with a focus on supporting mining communities. His largest project saw him managing over £1 million in funding, helping to bring real transformation to local areas. With a Master’s degree in Leadership and a background in youth work, Marcus has a deep passion for empowering communities, championing social action, and investing in the next generation.

He currently leads Now Church in North Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, where he and his team are involved in multiple social action projects, making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

At home, Marcus is just as busy! As a dad of three, his days are filled with the whirlwind of after-school clubs, activities, and family life—keeping him on his toes and ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

Jay Williams

Trustee

Jay brings a unique blend of expertise, combining a background in biochemistry with over 20 years of experience in learning and development. As the Lead Trainer, he specialises in leadership, talent development, coaching, and change management, equipping individuals and teams with the tools to grow, lead, and create lasting impact.

With lived experience of mental health struggles, Jay deeply understands the challenges many young people face. This personal insight fuels his passion for transformation, driving his work to bring hope, fresh thinking, and freedom to individuals and communities. His experience spans primary and secondary education, as well as both public and private sectors, where he has developed key partnerships and opportunities.

Beyond his professional life, Jay is kept on his toes by his wife, Hannah, and their children—ensuring there’s never a dull moment! Whether he’s leading training, mentoring others, or navigating family life, Jay is committed to helping people thrive and reach their full potential.

Randy Sohnchen

Trustee

Randy is a natural connector, bringing people, ideas, and opportunities together to create lasting impact. With extensive experience in financial analysis, marketing, development, and management, he has a strong track record in the business sector, as well as a deep commitment to serving non-profits across North America and beyond.

His strategic mindset, unwavering integrity, and ability to build strong relationships have earned him the trust and support of customers, employees, partners, and community leaders alike. Beyond his professional expertise, Randy plays a key role in supporting the development of Hannah and Phil, offering wisdom, guidance, and encouragement.

Happily married to Judy, Randy is a proud father of four and grandfather to six. Whether in business, philanthropy, or family life, his superpower is connection—bringing people together, strengthening teams, and ensuring that great ideas turn into meaningful action.

Lisa Rankin

Trustee

Lisa is Bristolian born and bred, with a heart for supporting and empowering young people. After studying youth and community work in Birmingham, she went on to work in a variety of roles, including youth work, family support, and schools-based mentoring. Over the years, she has dedicated herself to nurturing young people and equipping others to do the same, believing deeply in the power of community and mentorship.

With lived experience of mental health struggles, Lisa brings a deep sense of empathy, understanding, and resilience to her work.

Beyond her work, Lisa is deeply dedicated to her husband and caring for him, balancing her many commitments with love, strength, and grace. Whether she’s encouraging others, or caring for her family, Lisa’s heart for compassion and transformation shines through in everything she does.

John Barton

Trustee

John is married to Hilary. They have three grown-up children and four grandchildren. When not caring for their extended family they enjoy playing tennis, gardening and taking their Labradors on long country walks. As an Everton FC supporter John is learning patience and humility. He worked as a consultant paediatrician in the NHS until retiring in 2021 and retains a strong commitment to children and young people’s health and well being.

John and Hilary have been members of Capel Ed Church since moving to Monmouthshire in 1996. John has been part of the leadership team and an elder for several years. He is passionate that we recognise God’s interest in every area of our lives and that we are called to follow and represent Jesus well wherever he places us.
