Llandaff Diocese Pilot Schools

We’re pleased to announce the growth of our partnership with the Llandaff Diocese. We had initially agreed to partner with the Llandaff Diocese for the 22/23 academic year, training 20 facilitators within the diocese. However, once word of the Flourish Project spread within the Diocese, some The Church of Wales schools were keen to deliver the project within their school community. Therefore, we have expanded our partnership to add six pilot schools with two facilitators at each school fully trained to deliver the Flourish Project.

We expect these six pilot schools to deliver the Flourish Project with over 200 children and young people within the first year. Llandaff have opted to sign the six pilot schools to deliver the Flourish Project for two years, increasing the expected reach to well over 400 children and young people across two years.

One of our trained Facilitators Coral Lewis had this to say about the two days of training,

Such an amazing course, everybody was so welcoming and friendly. I loved how we all learnt about ourselves while planning and acting out the sessions. The steps are really easy so you can add your own flavour and be free with your sessions. I will ‘magpie’ ideas from the lessons today. I’ve learnt a lot that can help me to help others. 5 stars.’

Flourish Project Manager Philip Mann shares his thoughts on the pilot scheme.

‘We’re excited to welcome on board another six schools to deliver the Flourish Project. We know that pilot schemes like this one, are key for communities to see and experience first hand the impact the Flourish Project can have. I’m delighted that Llandaff Diocese have opted for the pilot scheme to be a two year commitment. This ensures, each of the schools the best opportunity to use the Flourish Project to its fullest and see children and young people’s mental and emotional well being improve and their self esteem and general levels of happiness increase.

It was a pleasure to train all twelve facilitators and we look forward to hearing all the good news stories and the impact the Flourish Project has had.’

Rebecca Morteo, Head of Education for Llandaff Diocese adds.

“As a diocese, we prioritise supporting wellbeing and mental health in our schools. When we heard about Flourish, we were keen to explore how a programme developed from Christian values could support wellbeing in our schools. The training has been a huge success with positive feedback from all staff. As we start to introduce Flourish through a two-year pilot across our schools, we have seen high levels of engagement and enthusiasm from staff, children and parents. We are looking forward to watching the impact and development of flourish in our pilot schools over the next two years.’

Partnership with Llandaff Diocese

Date Published: 15th September 2022

Proton Foundation announces partnership with Llandaff Diocese.

We are thrilled to announce that the Proton Foundation has agreed to partner with Young Faith Matters, a funded element of the Diocese of Llandaff.
Our initial partnership is for 12 months with the hope of increasing the partnership by at least a further year.

Our partnership involves training 20 people from the Diocese of Llandaff to deliver the Flourish Project in schools and churches across the Diocese. The Flourish Project will also be a recommended resource to all 25 church schools from within this Diocese.

Hannah Williams, CEO of the Proton Foundation, had this to say: “We are excited by the synergy of this partnership and are looking forward to the young people’s lives that will be encouraged, enabled and empowered. Our mission is to create cultures of impact and long lasting change. We understand the importance of partnering together, as ‘together’ we can make a significant difference, bringing hope and restoration.”

Paul Booth, Director of Mission for the Diocese of Llandaff explains the importance of this partnership, “As a Diocese we have seen the potential of this programme to impact young lives. The capacity for schools to address the increasing challenge of young people’s mental health and well-being issues is stretched and this offers us the chance to support schools with an excellent course which has demonstrable impact.”

Some of the newly trained Flourish Project facilitators had this to say after completing the two day training course delivered by Proton Foundation Trustee Jay Williams, CEO Hannah Williams and Flourish Project Manager Phil Mann.

“Lovely people & great training. I felt at ease throughout the training and feel very equipped to deliver the project in my local context.” – Mel Saunders

“This was an incredibly insightful, well considered and powerful programme that touched me deeply. I am confident that it will have a positive impact on the young people I will engage with.” – Reverend Charlotte Rushton

“Thoroughly enjoyed the training and feel ready to approach schools!” – Samuel Robinson
